for Visiting Scholars
The UCLA Center
for Public Health and Disasters (CPHD) offers scholars from other institutions
the opportunity to spend from one to three academic quarters studying and working
with Center faculty. The purpose of the visiting scholars program is to encourage
qualified disaster and public health professionals to broaden their academic,
research, and practical knowledge base. Visiting scholars may enroll in courses
offered by the Center (and other relevant SPH courses with instructor's consent)
and visit with agencies actively involved in public health preparedness and
response in the Los Angeles area. They may also consult with our research faculty
on limited short-term research projects of interest to their home institutions.
Requirements for interested applicants include:
- PhD
or equivalent in relevant field
- Fluency
in spoken and written English
- Letter
of support from sending agencies
- Personal
statement of objectives for the study period
